To secure the release of Bryan Hooper Sr., a man wrongfully convicted and imprisoned for over 25 years. Through dedicated efforts to amplify awareness of his wrongful conviction and galvanize widespread public support, we are striving for justice and redemption." We are aiming to bring awareness and mobilizing public support!
Prior to my arrest and wrongful conviction I was enrolled in college, taking classes in fashion design and Tailoring; Something that I have always wanted to do. I guess when God blesses, you the devil shows up. Time spent in school limited my opportunities to become financially stable which led me to the streets, hustling and indulging in a lifestyle that ultimately resulted in my wrongful conviction.
April 1998, at the age of 27 I was accused and Arrested by Minneapolis Police Department for the murder of a 77-year-old woman. I was one of the many people invited into the victims apartment by the state's key witness, under the false pretense that she was watching the victims apartment for her while she was away in treatment. I did not know that the victim was deceased in her apartment. This being a high profile case with lots of media coverage, I was painted as a violent, gangbanging, addict. Due to a rush in judgment and based on false jailhouse informant statements, assumed and made up claims that I confessed to the crime, I was charged with murder.
Evidence will show that the Minneapolis Police Department pressured the state's key witness to point the finger at me and gave her away to explain why her fingerprints might be on things associated with the murder. Over two and a half decades I've been trying to bring this wrongful conviction to light and regain my rightful freedom . A second is too long to be incarcerated for a crime you did not commit. Dear Supporter's,
One Voice Alone Isn’t Enough—But Together, We Can Be Heard
My father’s fight for justice has been long and exhausting. Without public pressure, the system will continue to ignore his wrongful conviction. This is why we need you.
A strong public turnout at his April 29th review could be the difference between continued injustice and a real chance at freedom.
